The American Civil War
Gents
Took a break. Christmas presents, hanging lights (Do ya'll do that there?) Thanks to my wife my house looks like a cammo'd up carnival ride.
Won't speak to all I missed. Sisyphus, Yes, by right I should be able to own a tactical nuke to dump on D.C. The point is when "we" agree to form a civil society we give up a few of our natural rights and curtail others in order to simply live together. Should someone ever harm one of my children, I would like to slide a slim glass tube up his penis and smash it with a hammer before I slit his belly, fill it full of corn and turn a herd of hungry hogs loose on the SOB. But, the social compact says I will allow the law and courts to deal with him. The gun part comes in in case I catch him in the act of hurting my childen. I do believe owning a gun in this country is important for protection of self and family. But the larger issue is to prevent my gov't from stepping over the line into tyranny. A few years ago there was a big militia movement breaking out. All of a sudden the Feds got real polite and started paying attention to the Constitution again. We aren't savages per se but certain elements of our society can be pretty barbaric at times.
Aldo, not at all hard to go on a killing spree with just a knife. Jack the Ripper ring a bell?
Do people dying justify a ban on anything ? Hardly think so. The people in this country and others screaming for gun bans are leftist, socialist left overs from the almost succesful toppling of our Constitution in the 60s. Most of the Leftist, radical organizations of the time were funded by the Soviets. Yes, the cold war is over, but we still face an internal threat to this country. P.C. thought police are just an example. Even uttering the word nigger can get you fired. Free speech? Hardly. Call someone a fag and see what happens. The reasons, IMHO, for an increase in gun violence is that our culture, if you can call it that anymore, has as its foundation and its defacto religion moral relativism. You can tell little Johnny and Susie that God is dead and we are really just animals and that there are no moral absolutes, but God? He caught the last train for the coast in this country. When we fill our kids heads full of moral relativism at school for eight hours a day and park them in front of the idiot box every night where every man is a sex machine, all the women are babes and problems are solved by killing the bad guy, do we need to be shocked when they follow the law of the jungle and kill those who wound them?
Just a few random thoughts that are the humble opinions of an ol' country boy.

life is hard, its harder if you're stupid.
Nb you know what I mean. Ofcourse a man can go and be a serial killer but that takes the ability to stay out of reach of the law which is alot harder today than in the Ripper's day. In this country if someone wanted to go into a building and kill alot of people before he is caought/killed the only thing he can do is buy a big sword/knife and it is much easier to avoide a knife than a bullet, in your country I could go and buy a gun and just walk into a building and kill 20 people before I've walked 10 feet, my point is strict regulations on sale, storage and use of fire arms would be a huge benifit in your country but ofcourse illegal weapons will always be available but are much harder to get at than legal ones.Aldo, not at all hard to go on a killing spree with just a knife. We had the nutter who killed a load of children at Dunblane. There was another lunatic who attacked a nursery school in Birmingham (I think). He used a machete. He never actually managed to kill any although he did injure some.
A fantastically brave nursery teacher tackled him and got badly slashed but her actions did save the children. I don't think she would have been so 'lucky' if he'd had a gun.

At this time, Jack the ripper is still considered a serial murderer/killer, which is different from a mass murder. Maybe history will be revised so as to show him as a killer cleaning up for the Royal family, but based on current analysis, he was a serial killer.nbforrest wrote:

Yeah, this might sound a bit weird, but I'd rather be 'cut' than shot. And I've been cut before.Sisiphus wrote: A fantastically brave nursery teacher tackled him and got badly slashed but her actions did save the children. I don't think she would have been so 'lucky' if he'd had a gun.
The deal is, our right to bear arms is sacred to us (most of us). It is that right that guarentees the rest. Had we not had weapons in 1775, I might have been a medic with the RM's rather than the USMC. This is something you and many Americans can't understand. Our rights are as much a part of us as our souls.
We need to like Nb said, get the socialist factor out of America, get our kids beleiving in God rather than dollars again.
People are insane these days, it is in the air, it is just a matter of time before the madness becomes chaos. I don't want to be a victim savvy?

Let them call me a rebel and I welcome it, I feel no concern from it; but I should suffer the misery of demons were I to make a whore of my soul. (Thomas Paine)
Aldo
O.K., forget the knife or sword. Can you read a chemistry book? Timmy McVeigh and his coconspirators didn't use a gun one. Sept 11th hijackers used box cutters to gain control of FOUR aircraft. (Says something about the state of American man hood)
My point is, a gun is a tool. I work in a rather secure facility (Don't ask can't / won't tell you) We were sitting around the other day figuring ways tto take it out. One of the guys came up with a simple but brilliant plan. All he did was think about it for about ten minutes. A determined man, with a clear goal can raise bookoo Hell if he wishes.

Touche on that last one. But, no actually the pussies are the one's who are afraid of the things and believe the police and the goodwill of other human beings can keep them safe.

Re: sisyphus
It's a sad world where a man who believes in the good will of fellow human beings is called a pussy.nbforrest wrote:the pussies are the one's who are afraid of the things and believe the police and the goodwill of other human beings can keep them safe.
