dog handler or soldier or both ??

Hey guys I have always wanted to handle dogs aswell as be a soldier and was wondering if I could be both ? Any info wil be great :)

Search the www or Google for MWD or Military Working Dogs. There's plenty of information about.

Or join the TA so that you've some soldiering stuff to do at weekends, then get yourself a job at the local vets. You can handle as many dogs you like before they get their knackers chopped off there...

When you say dog handler, do you mean as in searching for IED's?

I knew some right dogs when I was in the Army, but it was fun handling them

Lets be serious here mate. You've gotta prove yourself to be a pretty good soldier before they'll even let you near a MWD. It's not a case of join up, get a dog, look for IEDs, drugs etc.

Go to your local Army Recruiting office and have a chat with them first.

I know that kkob I mean after a few year after bein can you go on a course I ment

My recruiter told me that the Dog Handler job was massively oversubscribed and that now they only want people with experience. Not sure if this is true or not.

I also got told this. Apparently at least 2 years experience is needed preferably working in a vets or dogs home/shelter and only around 8 applicants get approved every year
