Help!

Post by trfcdan86 »

So I've got my PJFT this Saturday and i'm not goning to pass. The Regiment standard for the amount of press ups in a minute is 40 and I just can't get past 37!!! I have done pressups every other day for the last 2 weeks and I can feel a slight improvement but nothing major. Thing is I have good upper body strength and can bench 82kg. I can do 40 pressups but only in 80 seconds. The other parts of the test are a piece of pish, I can do 50 situps in a min and can run 2.4km in 8.43.

My AFCO has advised that should I fail this test my aplication will be put back 6 months which is really disapointing but completely understandable with the amount of applicants the RAF currently have.

Can anyone offer advice on what to do? I was think of perhaps pretending to be injured but dont know what the RAF's response would be to that.

Cheers.

I suffer from the same problem, my pressups seem to plateau. You have to think that on the day you'll have the added bonus of adrenalin and you'll be pushing yourself harder than you ever have before, maybe that'll help you squeeze out those extra few!

rest 3 days beforehand, try and do as little as possible. get the right nutrition and make sure well hydrated beforehand, sometimes the right food can make a difference to that 37 and make it 40.
application form : done
BARB test : passed 82
Medical : Broke my wrist so 12 months wait before reapply.
