Patellar Tendonitis

Post by Hughser »

Hiya chaps and Flo,
It's certainly been a long time since I've posted on here. Basically I've been suffering with Patellar Tendonitis since being at CTCRM in 2007 with little improvement thus far. Recently I had a spell where I was able to cycle 30 miles and run 5-10 miles again but it seems to have relapsed, I'm not having much luck with treatment and have spent over £2000 on private physio as the NHS has proved unhelpful!

As a last ditch attempt to salvage my military career and my Uni course in September, I was wondering if anyone had encountered this injury previously and what treatment they had received with positive effects!

Regards,
Hughser

when i was doing my PRMC i had crippling pains in my left knee and was diagnoised with the same thing..went through a year of NHS physio, orthotics made for my trainers(although orthotics did ease the pain and help alot), expensive private physio and was still in agony.
i basically told my physio he was useless and demanded an x-ray....found out i had a chunk of bone sheared off and digging into a nerve.(had to have invasive surgery)
all in all i was out for 18 months with no phys and mega unhappy....just started getting fit again now and gonna try again....i know how depressing it is to be sat on your arse but dont get too downhearted....cheerfulness in the face of adversity!

moral of the story....make sure they diagnoise you properly!!

Get well soon!!

Cheers for the advice chap, and dont worry I'm not getting down-hearted about it all. Just desperate for solutions as I'm due to be coaching sport full-time in September - then it'll be back to CTCRM. Getting it assessed on Friday then we shall see what happens!

Hughser

This may seem a bone question but have you been seeing a sports physio?
They are rather more specialised and capable of dealing with your type of injury than a general physiotherapist.

Indeed I have Wholley, after having no luck with the NHS I've been to two seperate Sports Physio's. I have one more to try, who is suposed to be the bee's knees - so thats the next step!
