Hi all
Little about me as im new,
My name is Robert Bath,17,wanting to be an rlc driver in the regular army.
well just to ask a few questions.
if everything goes well with this interview on friday-12th eg medical and so on... how long does it usually take before you are placed on training after the aptitude tests....- is there anything i could be doing to help to make sure i pass the exam/s? and once ive passed the exams how long is it before you are placed on basic training?(as id liked to be as fit as i can possibly be before). currently running a mile in under 7 minutes.
(freinds arguement)- are you payed whilst on the 14-20week training or not?
what are the times needed for fitness levels? to run 1.5 mile and other fitness level's if anyone has any info eg push ups,situps.....
what is envolved in basic training?
and if or when they ask me in the interview on friday"why do you wish to join the army"-"because driving and servicing and maintaining vehicle's is a career i wanted to do scince i was 14 and the army offers this with a strong future2".... is that a good reason to join?
Any other help or info would be very much appreciated!.
Thanks
Rob

Application takes between 3 and 6 months mate.
Everyone on here can tell you the process.
Yes you get paid in Basic training approx 750 quid a month.
Run time for RLC is 14 minutes at ADSC however your best effort is what we are after.
Dont worry about your Final interview just yet mate its a way off!!!
16 years in the RLC and enjoyed every minute, have now retraded and still loving it.

ok thanks! it went well yesterday they made me fill out a basic info form.... and gave me a few dvd's to do with the rlc driving and a booklet, after that we walked off out as the interview had ended, i got about 4 doors away from the recruitment office and descided to back to the office and ask if i could do my application there and then!! but his response was"by heck your keen with a (with a grin on his face) sorry but i can tell your keen and that you cant wait but you need to watch the dvd's and make sure it really is right for you before hand"
i was hoping to get my application sorted out yesterday but.... i have a doctors appointment on monday when im done with that then il phone them up and book an appointment to make my application.
so just a quick question. phases? is phase 1 you basic training phase 2 where you are posted after you basic training(phase 2 training for the core you applied for)? and when you are phase 2 so i maybe based at leconfield for my driver training once ive got my liscence's are you allowed to take time off while in phase 2 training, how long does it usually last, phase 2 training?
Thanks very much

Well i joined up as Infantry wen i was 16 and am currently in the Black watch, I did horrible in my interview and my ice breaker but I got under 10 mins in my run but tbh you can do awful at everything and still get in because they build you up to everything u need to be. Just make sure its what you want to do because I is a huge step to take
