hello, new to the site and just wondered if anybody had any idea why a british paratrooper in the second world war, and trained at ringway etc would wear his wings oin his chest and not his shoulder, it was my grandad during the second world war and was first with the 8th and then 10th battalion, he was a private and spoke no language apart from english, so does this rule out soe or jedburgh? please help, regards, matt

There no particular reason why Ringway was chosen as a training base for Paratroopers in WW2, except that it must have been free at the time.
