Ive been looking for career opportunities for a helicopter doorgunner in all 3 armed forces and cannot find the role listed anywhere.

Can anyone please advise?

No need to join the military, try THIS :D.

But seriously, noone is just a door gunner. In the RAF the job is loadmaster which has been covered elsewhere, but essentially while you do operate door guns where required, you'd do anythign else that needs doing outside the cockpit as well. I think NCO aircrew do the same in the RAF and Fleet Air Arm, though I'm not sure about those.

Also the RM now has an aircrew branch, sounds quite a good job, i've a couple of mates doing it, and theres a good wedge of extra pay.

Thanks to Rob T for drawing attention to the AAC site. One of the photos thereon shows a Sgt Julie Wiles being presented with a blue flight helmet to mark her membership of the Blue Eagles display team. Her dad Alan, was a RM sgt pilot before transferring with a comission to the AAC, a total nutter too. He and I were marines together in Aden in '63. Nice to know that whilst I seem to have made little or no progress in life, some of my old mates have prospered.

Don't forget the RAF Regiment, they second members to be gunners on Helicopter squadrons, a gucci posting by all accounts. I had a mate who was an airloadmaster and he said apes were a nightmare as they were as thick as the preverbial and easily panicked. I thought they would be ideal for the job!
