We are looking for a Residential Support Worker in Hartlepool, County Durham

Post by Express »

Our purpose at Witherslack Group is to give the young people who live in our children’s homes a sense of hope and aspiration that they may have struggled to find until now. We are opening a brand new Children’s Home for young people that have had difficult starts in life and may have experienced a range of traumatic events. Our aim is to provide a stable home and offer them a future that’s full of positive outcomes.

We create children’s homes that are just that – homes, which is why we want our Residential Support Workers to bring their whole self to work. Whether you’re a skilled cook, have a passion for the outdoors or a film buff, we want our team to bring their passions, experiences and skills with them so our young people can live life to the full.

This home is part of an Integrated Therapeutic Provision providing a complete package of residential care and on-site learning. The home and learning centre work together to ensure our young people can achieve the best possible outcomes.

Be You

We’re looking for someone who’s got the right attitude and is looking for a career that really makes a difference. The impact you’ll have on the young people you work with will be life-changing so making sure you feel well taken care of and confident about your future here is really important to us. We will provide training and development opportunities that allow you to flourish in your role, realising your own ambitions whilst at the same time inspiring our young people to be equally ambitious. All we require is that you have held a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months and you’re keen to complete a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) within two years (if you don’t have it or its equivalent already).

Day to day you’ll…

…Get involved in all the little things that, while our young people might not even notice, make a lasting difference to their quality of life. Things like: Supporting young people in all aspects of their life, relationships, social skills, activities and hobbies, in fact, everything that a parent would do in a typical family setting

• Making sure they’re up on time for school and have a good breakfast inside them!
• Getting their evening meals ready and planning things for them to do when they get home
• Helping them work through their homework (even when it baffles you too!)
• Encouraging them to get involved in activities or to just relax and feel at home
• Planning social and leisure activities and helping with hobbies - from football to netball, musical instruments to playing video games
• Keeping up to date with paperwork and reporting

Be the Best

One of the reasons why we are the best provider in the sector is that we invest in you and your development. Our brand new ‘Care Academy’ offers comprehensive induction and training programmes for everyone, from new starters to future leaders. For people new to the care sector, we offer an exclusive ‘Therapeutic Parenting’ programme to give you all the skills and confidence you need to shine. Plus we offer management and leadership programmes if you want to develop to become a future manager. In fact, we love to develop our teams so much that most of our team leaders, deputies and registered managers (plus even a Regional Director!) have worked their way up the ladder here.

Be rewarded

Witherslack Group are the best provider in the sector. We also offer the best salary and benefits packages. As a Support Worker you’ll have an annual salary of up to £23,051. As a caring employer we recognise that pay is important but so is security and work life balance which is why we offer 7 weeks holidays per year and a company sick pay scheme that covers up to four weeks sickness after just two years’ service. This is in addition to a company paid health scheme that allows you to claim back the cost of your routine dental and optician, some prescriptions, physio and sports therapies, complementary and alternative therapies. You can even claim back the cost of the flu jab!

Being an employee at Witherslack Group also gives you access to a pension scheme. We will match your contributions up to 5%. We also provide Life Insurance.

As well as a comprehensive induction and training programme Witherslack Group will pay the cost of your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare if you don’t already have this or an equivalent qualification. The cost of providing this qualification alone is around £6K.

You’re not just joining a home, you’re becoming part of a family.
