General questions regarding joining and getting fit

Post by Alexwehden »

Hi guys I'm Alex I'm 18 and it's been my dream since I was 12 to become a royal marine. Now the time has come to start my journey along this road and can't wait to get started but I've got some questions that I feel you guys are most likely the best to help me Answer.
Firstly:
I know I need to get fit but what's the best way to prepare me for training and make sure I'm in the best possible state to get Started? I know there's stuff on the official website but I'm looking for anything that might give me an edge to everyone else. Any advice will be massively appreciated.
Secondly:
What's the usual process between sending off my application, to my medical, to my interview, to fitness checks and then finally arriving at basic training? I.e how long does it all take between each step and how long is the waiting list?
And finally:
I want my knowledge to be on point. I want to know everything I need to know and more to get me through my interview and increase my knowledge on the RM. Is there any books I could read or anyone that could help me with exactly what I need to know because I'll be honest I don't really know where to start.
Thanks lads

Suggest you look at this web site.
It is not an official site as regards the Royal Marines.

Try this too - there are links on the page to other RM pages...
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.
