Are new LE Officers announced anywhere official?

Post by JonVortex »

Hi there,

My Dad is a retired Lt. Col. from the RE, having joined as a squaddie back in 1812 ... :-) .... he made Captain in 1994 and I was wondering whether there is any sort of official notice anywhere of this - like the Gazzette or anything similar - I don't know if he has it, but if he doesn't and something like that exists (maybe when he made RSM as well? don't know) ... it might make a cool present.

Any idea where I can look for this kind of thing?

Thanks,
Jon.

You could try Ancestry, and they have a huge selection of records you can trawl through. It will cost about £12.00 for a month but you need to make sure it is canceled at the end of the month or they will keep charging you for each month. By going in for a month you will have unlimited use of the records, from military, to Census and all the medal cards and many other as well.
