After a meeting earlier today, we have been discussing the options of supporting one or more of the Armed Forces charities available.

During this new year, Military Forums hopes to get involved in a few different projects and if we can raise a little money for charity we will try our up most best.

In all fairness we would like to support a charity that helps all sectors.

What are your top 3 recommendations?
We would like to hear your thoughts.

Now I run a Registered Charity No 1126982 Parachute Regimental Association Hastings which is a small Charity in its own right. Now there is a home spun charity for you and you can always check it out on the charity Commissioners Web Site

They help ex forces personnel suffering from PTSD.
I've visited their residential facility in Surrey and was very impressed. The men and women who go there enjoy their time and benefit greatly from it, and look forward to their return visits.

H4H, done a wee bit for them in the passed.

All the above are worthy charities.
Let a few other members have a glimp and then make a judgement.
I reckon one or more would be the way.
I think we talked about this some time back,wasn't Harry keen to do something?
RMA and RBL were discussed but it kind of withered on the vine.

There are a lot of decent Forces charities out there these days, but whatever we pick we should definitely make sure all 3 services are covered.

Will let this thread roll for a while before we make up our minds and to give others a choice of input.

As said, we would like to support a charity that cares for all sectors as Hyperlithe has mentioned.
We would also like to support and help a local charity to us, we currently have interest with Tab as its only down the road from us.
There is also a choice to support a different main charity every year, or every quarter / six months if we do raise enough funds.

Wholley, your right Harry did mention and we talked sometime ago about something similar but nothing got off the ground at the time.

Done a few things for H4H before aswell, I think this may be a good charity because it helps everyone in the forces? But obvisouly any will be good think this is a great idea!

What ever you do, stay well away from Talking 2 Minds. But, Combat Stress would be my number two after H4H
I think the Rifles have there own fundrasing charity now too.

I understand the post is a little dated but were still waiting for others to reply.

Just caught the end of the One Show on the Beeb.
A village WI has been organising a free run ashore for servicemen injured in the sand pit.
The lads on the show were from 42cdo.but From what I saw it's not just for Bootie's.
I think the village was Galloway somewhere.
Tell me what I think and wether a small charity like the above might be worth lobbing some dosh at.If you think it might be worth a look at then I happen to know a bod who works for the BBC World Service who could give me the info on the piece.
