Hi,

Just wondering if theres any RN Officers who were Art Graduates? If so, what was getting in like? I'm currently studying Graphic Design and graduating next year. I really :multi: really want to join the RN as an Officer to make use of my degree (I guess). I tried getting in the RNR as a rating last year but failed misserably on the recuitment test :( .

Also whats the required degree classification?

Cheers

Richard

... must add that I failed completely on the maths section but got full marks on the others. I was so gutted! But maths has never been a strong point so I'm retaking my GCSE to try the RNR again or go RN after my degree :) .

RAF SNCO with a BA(Hons), sorry, can't help!

Don't know if we've got any RN officers here at the mo, never mind ones with Arts degrees...

Ahh! Whats it like in the RAF? Thats the second option! I've heard its competitive to be an officer though. The reason for aiming for officer is I want to make use of 10K education!

Lol! Ahh never mind then! :D

I was hoping there be someone who's been down that route!

Could be worse - could be studying philosophy!! Hahaha

Well I love it, but then I'm biased!
The Navy wouldn't give me a commission as I didn't apply til I was 25 and I would have been 26 by the time I'd gone through the application process, and their cut-off age is 25. They sent me to the RAF recruiters, and then I found the job I'm doing now and decided I didn't want a commission after all! (So I guess I have wasted my degree sort of...)

Yeah the RAF looks cool too. Is it true that theres more girls in the RAF than any other service? Lol.

Which branch did you apply for? Was it for warfare? I'm thinking of doing that! I'd be 23 when I graduate. I've noticed theres Training Management thats open for art graduates which looks cool. All to discuss with the careers office! :D

Does the degree not increase your salary even if your rating? Whats this POC? Is it necessary for direct entry? Lots a questions! Lol.

Hi Ares,

You'd have to check the Royal Navy website :) . They give you all the requirements, if you have a degree you can go through direct entry.
