Uniform and Tattoo Policy

Post by Nephthys »

Apologies if a similar topic has been covered before in this forum.

But I was wondering if a tattoo on my lower leg is going to cause me problems upon joining in terms of wearing the proper uniform.
Is it compulsory for females to wear skirts as part of any official uniform? And if so, does this include any hosiery which covers the lower legs?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Nephthys,

Im not 100% sure on this one, but I am off to HMS Albion tomorrow, so I shall find out and get back to you. Id hazard a guess that it is the same as the rule for male service personnel, but ill find out for sure.

I asked and it seems the rules are any head, neck or hand tattoos bar you from entry. So you should be okay.

Thank you very much for finding out for me. Much appreciated.
I am still curious as to whether it is ever compulsory for women to wear skirts on any occasion, formal or otherwise?
Is it ALWAYS optional?

Often what you wear and when will be set down in orders, and orders are orders
