Can I join after surgery for a dislocated shoulder?

#1 Post by JamesPC92 » Sat 20 Jul, 2019 6:50 pm

Hi, my name is James, I am 27 at the moment and looking to join the army in the next year or so. I have dislocated my shoulder twice and have been told I’ll need surgery to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I still have full range of movements in my shoulder and no pain and the doctor isn’t really worried about it but has said if I want to continue playing rugby it’ll need to be fixed. Will this surgery go against me joining the army? If i can prove there is no issue with my shoulder and it won’t be a problem would it be likely I’ll be allowed to join?

Thanks for any help given.
