i was deferred from selection at pirbright on monday due to some wax in my ears and some acne on my back and chest. I was so annoyed and still can't believe it! Can go bk when they're sorted. Ergh!

Hello everyone I'm new to this site, just wondering is anyone going to ADSC Glencorse 22nd/23rd October?? (This Thursday/Friday)

Corrected the spelling so that the rest of us could understand it.

Hi guys,

I have my pre-ADSC tomorrow, in my letter outlining what I needed to bring with me it said i'd be wearing a tracksuit all day and need to bring wet/warm clothes, running shoes and a water bottle.

I'm slightly confused whether I need to take my own tracksuit or is one supplied? the wet/warm clothes I imagine are either jumpers/joggers or shorts/t-shirt?

Thanks,

Grant

grantdw - When I went for selection no tracksuit was provided, we did everything in our own shorts/t-shirt. This was inthe middle of summer though so take a tracksuit too.

Kolkol - Your runtime sounds good. It obviously depends on what job you're going for though. You won't do pushups or sit ups at selection. You will do heaves (pullups) but it's best effort, not pass/fail. (I only managed 4). Your fitness isn't the onjly thing that will help you get through it all though. You need to demonstrate you can work as a team during the aptly named "team tasks" and pass, where I asume most of the fails come from, the medical. Good luck anyway.

I passed my pre selection last week woo! I wasn't expecting that at all so now i'm just waiting for an interview date. Have to phone up my recruiting officer today, he's doing interviews at the moment though so i'm going to wait until after lunchtime.
I'm still dreading the actual ADSC though if I get that far.:p:
The Pre ADSC was fine though, I just need to work on my upper body strength but everything else went well. :D

Had my ADSC 6/7th this week.
Got defered 4 months, for not doing that great on team tasks :agrue:

I'm so annoyed by this I worked so hard, the final thing..Blew it i'm not sure if it was because I was actually physically exhausted and I got a bit grr over the grenade test. :bad-words:

Anyone got tips for the grenade test it really hurt and took the skin off my elbow/knee joints not sure I was moving right..

Other than those two, I think I was told everything else was ok. Jerry cans...rubbish i've been practicing on 5kg heavier back home and managed to drop them yesterday. :s: not sure how that worked out.

Bit :( about it as the first 7 who had their interviews 2 of us were deferred the other 5 passed..Not sure how the other girls did as we were first taken back to train station.

I enjoyed it though it kinda makes me feel like i've achieved worthwhile, by just doing some of the things even though I was defered. :)

your best wearing your exercise gear, i.e shorts and a t shirt, and a tracksuit bottoms and a sweat top over them. it'll keep you warm while your standing around and easy to take off when you need to do phys.

speaking of which, wear that when you turn up as well don't turn it up in a suit because you'll only have to get changed soon as you get there

Surely it'd be best to wear a suit/smart clothes at least? Seeing as they note everything down. I went in my smart clothes to ADSC.
this week Some went in smart, some casual either way we all got changed when we were there.

Honestly, i;d just do what it says on the ADSC instructions.

Go prepared in PT gear and tracksuit. My CO I said follow what it says on your instructions forms, there is no point in turning up in a suit.

Turn up ready to go, but not like a scruffbag.

Selection is about your physical fitness, and ability to soak up information, work in a team and most importantly, "follow instructions".

There was one lad on our course who brought jeans and a polo shirt for his interview. We took the p*ss of course, he could have atleast brought a smart shirt and trousers, but he passed with an A. So, whilst appearance is important it means nothing in the grand scheme of things.
