These folks make some excellent products that helped many of the verterans whom I have come into contact with:

I use their products on a daily basis as well. They are obviously not the answer to everything, but can help with daily aches and pains.

One of the biggest causes of foot pain is due to imbalances and tightness in the calf muscles and shin muscles. In the back of the leg, there are the calf muscles (gastrocnemius muscle) and a flat muscle called the soleus which lays underneath it. Tissue attaches these muscles in a “chain” and goes down to the achilles tendon and then onto the tissues at the bottom of the feet.
When I was injured, after six months in bed, my feet were bent so badly that I walked on the tips of my toes and my heels. The doctors wanted to cut the tendons in my feet, but a therapist worked the calf muscles and I am now walking normally.
The following device gives the best calf stretch I have ever had:

Hope this helps someone
