This is a clip of a young female artist. Using just sand on a board she depicts the unfolding of WWII in the Ukraine. It starts off with a happy scene, followed by the destruction of the war, a young happy woman with a baby turning into an old women who becomes a monument to the war.
It finishes with a sailor looking into a house saying goodbye to his wife and baby. Unfortunately, we can't understand the background commentary which obviously adds a powerful story to the art.
It's clear from the audience reaction that the Great Patriotic War means far more to them than Remembrance Sunday does to us.

She won the competition and a prize of £130,000. The skill she shows is quite amazing - and how many millions did Damian Hurst get for cutting a cow in half and putting it in a tank of formaldehyde?
