:: Clemency for Marine A ::

#1 Post by Beast » Fri 22 Nov, 2013 5:12 pm

The Defence Secretary claims to have had no requests for clemency for Marine A – you can change this by sending him the following letter or similar. (See below for his address)
Also a copy to your local MP.

Secretary of State for Defence
House of Commons,
London,
SW1A 0AA

Dear Secretary of State for Defence,

I am appealing for a plea of clemency in the case of Marine A.

The Sentencing Authority must take into consideration that this was his 6th tour of duty in Afghanistan. In this time he has seen colleagues killed, injured and has been subjected to daily shootings and bombing incidents. He did not have the comfort of going down to the pub with his mates and switching off, nor did he have the luxury of daily support from his family back in the UK.

Successive Governments have sent our service personnel to Afghanistan whilst reducing the numbers in the armed forces – which is responsible for Marine A having done 6 Afghanistan tours, therefore the government of the day must bear some responsibility for the incident which regrettably took place.

A wrong has been committed and due punishment must take place, however mitigating circumstances must be seriously considered by the Sentencing Authority – I request your support for clemency in this matter.

Yours faithfully

Can you bring this appeal to the attention of fellow MP's, the Defence Secretary and the Shadow Defence Secretary?

Yours faithfully
