Re: Selection
depends what you want to do.
10 heaves is pretty good. The run time is decent too.
4 Para are looking for 9.30 2.4km. The Signals TA will give you 14 minutes to get round.
Like I say, depends what job you want to do

Going for Royal Engineers, did consider the para's but theres only the medics in nottingham.
Application in and BARB done, so just waiting for a call I guess now for a medical or interview.

Re: Selection
Still but max effort in but nice to know I’m on track. Can you train on the LSW or LMG in the engineers or do they rely on infantry support for heavier weapons? I know this is the sort of stuff I can ask in my interview but I’m no good a waiting.
Cheers.

Re: Selection
that's it mate. Just turn up, bust a gut and pass the selection.
On the other question - I don't know for sure, mate. I don't want to say either way and get it wrong. I would think you would get to play with the LSW, just not sure.
Do you have any dates yet?

Re: Selection
The waiting is murder, eh?
I wanted to get on the cadre that started this month, but had to put it on hold to have an operation to straighten my nose (been waiting for the op nearly 2 years). I am hoping to be on the July cadre - P Company in December.......fingers crossed maroon beret for christmas
Just keep the training up and research as much as you can. ARRSE is a good source of info too - as well as a good source of p1ss taking.
I am an ex regular so can only give limited information on the TA/reserves.
Your attitude seems spot on mate. You will be surprised how many people will turn up unprepared. Beggars belief. The good thing is that the TA is getting rid of the pie munching, drinking club mentality that has tarnished its reputation for so long. Plenty of oppurtunity to get on a tour or ten too.
Nottingham to Leeds isn't that far to travel to C Coy, 4 para!!!!!
keep in touch anyway, mate. I hope you hear something soon.

Cheers for your help. Wells thats the plan get trained and get on tour some where. The like ya said getting rid of the pie munchers and seeing some good soldiers now, cant wait to do my bit. As for ARRSE, that site is a constant source of entertainment. Well hope you get your beret m8, im hoping later down the line to maybe move and try for air assault engineers. Lot of work a head before that tho.
Good look.

Re: Selection
I enquired about joining our local TA way back toward the beginning of january, I FINALLY got a call back at about the 19th to be told that theyre having a 'Day in army life' day on 27th Feb and I should attend then where they are taking sign ups, and that there is a medical happening on 5/6 or 7th of March and I would get a call closer the time.
I see patience is a virtue you MUST have to join the TA then
Anyway, Good luck on your Selection mate. I'm sure you'll be fine
