Joining the RAF after 8 1/2 years in the Army

Post by Philbrown413 »

I left the Army in Jan 06 after 8 1/2 years and im looking at returning but thinking about the RAF. I know that if I joined the Army again I would continue where I left off. Would this apply when I join the RAF? I.e I wouldnt have to do any basic training just familiarisation on the RAF

Heyup Phill welcome aboard

You`re probably right mate, but one of those nice RAF types will be along in a minute to give you the heads up. 8)

Hi there, I am fairly sure that you wouldnt have to do basic training if you pull your finger out and join up pretty quick. We've just had a girl join us who had been in the army for 7 years but left about 14-18 months ago. However she did have to do her basic training. But to be fair its only 9 weeks and its an absolute doddle.

You would also get a quite easy time of it as you have "previous". More than likely Senior Person of your Flight.

However my collegue was saying she did get a bit of the brown smelly stuff from some of the instructors when they spotted that she had more medals than they did, on her No.1 Uniform.
