Looking to join the gunners...

Post by Rockdog »

Hi,
I'm new here and was just looking for a bit of advice really, I'm looking to join the RAF gunners and was just wondering if being 25 years old is going to hold me back? Also I have tatoo's down both arms (full sleves) are these going to be a problem?

Hello mate.
Your age will not be a problem you may find training easier due to the fact you will have more life experience and maturity. When I did my ADSC for the Army last year the oldest person there was about your age and passed everything with ease, coming first in the 1.5 mile run. Not so sure about your tattoos Im afraid, it might be worthwhile giving your AFCO a call.

I think they should be okay as long as they don't show when you're wearing uniform :)

Is that just dress uniform or training/combat uniform as well?

Your tattoos should be ok mate, as long as they're not offensive and you can't see them when you've got a uniform on (long sleeves).

I would not worry about your age mate. Like SHOOT_ME said you will benefit as you will have more life experince. Also, on the course I am on at the moment there are guys as old as 28.

As Brophy said your tatt's should not be a prob.
Below collar and above wrist.
I'm covered in them, never stopped me becoming a Deputy Sheriff.
(Excused short sleeves)
Don't worry about it,you'll get plenty of other things to worry about. :o

I'm in the RAF mate, and I've got tattoos. As long as when you can't see them when you're in number ones you'll be fine
