Bristol URNU run marathon for RN & RM Charity

Post by Haribo »

Hi all!

(I know this is also in the RM section as well, but thought it might not been seen fully unless in here too)

This coming Wednesday (eek!) members (including our Cox'n, CPO 'Jess' James) of Bristol University Royal Naval Unit will be running from the University of Bath in the east to Bristol University in the west via Bath Spa University and the University of the West of England-a distance of (just over) 26.2 miles - a marathon!

To make things poetic, our charities rep has targeted a time of 205 minutes in which to complete the run, as it is the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar this year. The challenge is on!

We are running in aid of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, which provides support to the entire Naval family and aims to help those who are in need or who are suffering hardship; assist with the education of their children; and boost the morale and well being of serving personnel by issuing grants to its affiliated charities who then go on and help our deserving servicemen and women.

We appreciate any donations, no matter how small, and even if you can't donate, if you could spread the word it would be very much appreciated!

Our fundraising page is at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/bristolurnu-unirun

Throughout the day, updates and photos will be posted to our Twitter page to keep people updated on our progress! http://www.twitter.com/bristolurnu

Thanks for your time!
