Cdre J F W Baskerville

Post by Annek »

I am putting together a display for the Cornwall at War Museum at Davidstow and have a No 1 jacket whose previous owner appears to have had an interesting Naval career. The Gieves label inside is for 14223 Mr J F W Baskerville, 54008 Portsmouth. The gold lace is missing from the sleeve but looks to be that for a Commodore. A red stripe is still on the sleeve and I presume this denotes medical status..
The medal ribbons are CBE, Order of St John, GSM [1915-1962], 1939/45 Star, Atlantic Star, Burma Star with bar, 1939/45 War Medal [mentioned in dispaches], and the Coronation medal. There is also a pair of wings on the left sleeve.
Can anybody tell me anything about Cdre Baskerville or his career or where I might continue my research. :D :D :D
