THE ABANDONED SOLDIER
Heyup,
SYB pointed me at a post over on OAMAAM ref a documentary the Beeb are making called “the Abandoned Soldier”
It`s about the shocking treatment meted out to Veterans who have been injured either physically or mentally or both, in the service of Great Britain. Watch out for it in May-ish.
A group of Veterans from all Branches, (but mainly Royal and the Para )staged a protest in Trafalgar Square and erected this.
Here’s Yorkie and Si, stood in front of the statue
and a close-up of the wording,
Here’s a phot to show the scale of the head
Here’s Si with a Johnny called Gyanray, and a Jenny called Sue,
Clock the wording on this statue,”Gratefull Country” my arse. Ken Livingstone didn`t even have the courtesy to talk to these Veterans whose sacrifices provide him with the very freedom he enjoys to be a socialist w4nker and total arsewipe.
l
Once the protest was over, the statue is removed as witnessed by Si and one of the Toms
Afterwards, the motley crew from all branches of the Services posed for the usual mug shot
As some of you know, Si has been on many tv and radio progs talking about PTSD in particular and the disgraceful treatment of injured Vets in general and through his meeja contacts he pushed out a phone number at the Beeb for anyone who wants to have a documentary made. Yorkie Malone rang them up and you will see the results in May. (Is that about right Si?)
Tremendous effort from all involved in this project! What a fantastic statue for the vacant plinth in the Square instead of the shite Ken Livingstone wants, for farksake
Well done Yorkie and Simon, well impressed
Farking amazing, you two
Now, who is going to send me a vid

Here`s a couple of quotes from Yorkie,
Who told you you could bring yer Budgie Lofty? And you`ll never manage to blow yer own trumpet like that
And again,Once it was up and basicly all over......... a security guard came over... and ..... I don't think he was too happy with all the film crews getting it all on film....
What we found out was we need permision from the Mayor..........
KEN LIVINGSTONE
It was found out that he was doing a news thing by Westminster.........
A gang of us went to see him.........
As we passed The Cenotaph........ Royal, Para, Royal marching along and a good Salute .....
and on to see Ken...........
The producer did the talking cos he is more diplomatic than me!!!
BUT guess what......... Ken wouldn't speak to us......... but he spoke to some other TV camera about some silly programme called Big Brother......... BUT not the veterans.......
Besides Ken Livingstone`s ringpiece obviouslyIt was very interesting after the "parade?" "protest?" and the number of people who came up and asked.......... what is it all about......
Also there were quite a few yanks who could not belive that our servicemen are not looked after when they come out with injuries.
The sad thing is that it had to be taken away later that afternoon........
But Ken Livingstone knows about it.......... and I don't think his press officer was too impresed when we turned up.....
It does show though that the ones at the top really have thier organisation sorted for them
Really wanted to talk to the TV about Big Brother......... a programme you can turn OFF..... and read a book.....
BUT will not talk to veterans about putting a statue in Trafalgar Square..........
RIGHT........... now this is the question
Can any one suggest a suitable place to put this statue???

Stevie, what about ye Dunno who did the sculpture but I`d give odds it wasn`t the cnut who did "Both Arms"
Si, how did Newsnight go? Do you have a link mate?
Will there be a campaign to have the statue placed on the vacant plinth permanently ? I think you`d be on a winner with that one mate, fark the great and the good like old Maj Gen Havelock(who? )
What about a statue commemorating the ordinary Grav?

That was a bloody good effort there from the Indy.
I bet there were a lot of it`s readers who had no idea of the size of the problem.
Or even the size of the carpet in Whitehall
See the comment from Toby from C.S. that they need an extra two mill just to stand still and the MOD are cutting funding. They are seeing a twenty per cent year on year growth.
It`s outragious. Blair wants turning inside out for this

PTSD
My name is Craig Evans. On the 25th of Jan 2006 the Independent front page had a story about an American soldier who had killed himself following a struggle with PTSD as a result of his service in the Iraq war.
I am a journalism student at Bournemouth Uni and I had interviewed the soldier a while before and he actually sent me his last email explaining that he was going to end his life moments before shooting himself.
I have always wanted to be a conflict reporter, but this changed my entire life, a guy I had never met who live 4000 miles away and my life was turned upside down.
Anyway to the point. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out on a few projects I have going about PTSD. I am also helping out the BBC with a project that they are working on so it may involve eventual involvement with this...
Thanks very much to everyone in the armed forces, you're all hero's, remember who the real terrorists are...
