It's uncanny how once alot of what I call "sheltered countries" get just a taste of western civilisation they want more? ...perhaps these freedoms, and freedom of choice is part of human nature. If this wasn't the case, why are more and more people moving to places like Britain everyday? ...

"When do I get my rollmats?" "When do we get naked and pissed?" "Want to see some naked phots of your missus?" "Shall I close the door on my way out?"   Hmmm, never thought of those ones. I just assumed the roll mats would be issued during clo...

DLink011, my PRMC is on the 5th of March, not long now. :D Ask about further education courses whilst serving. They are always keen to hear from people willing to expand their knowledge base. It shows you are looking towards the future maturely. Sounds good to me. I was looking at starting an Open U...

Good questions to ask at the interview

Can anyone think of any good questions i should ask during my PRMC interview? I'm normally the sort of person who keeps my mouth shut and ears open, but i know it's expected that you have some questions to ask whilst in the interview. Considering during my initial interview i made a bit of a prat of...

30 or 32 weeks?

When i first heard of the Marines training, i remember somebody telling me it was 32 weeks. Since then, most of what i have seen has said it's 30 weeks. But just today, after my PRMC pre-course briefing, i found a comment in one of the documents i was given, mentioning 32 weeks. Now, could someone p...

That sounds like good fun to me. :)

I've only been training in boxing a little while, months as opposed to years, but would love to keep it up if i ever get into the marines. Do they still train you if ou're a relative novice, or are they more interested in the already competitive boxers?

I got my PRMC dates the other day.... March 5 - 8.

Sod's law really, but i suppose i'll be heading home, covered in bruises and completely knackered, about the same time you're arriving full of energy and confidence.

Probably the hardest type of press up to do is the planche press up. It's generally only done by gymnasts because of the amount balance it requires in addition to the extreme strength levels. Basically it requires balancing on your hands, feet in the air, and body held paralell to the ground, and th...

Leaving the sledging aside for a second, does anyone have any information on the sniper course? Also, what relevance does doing the sniper course have to a career in the Royals?

The only routine i ever found that increased my press up numbers quickly and consistantly was this one. Saturday: Do as many press ups as you can in a single set. Remember this number. Monday - Friday: Do half your maximum reps 3 times a day. I usually did them just before every meal. It's really qu...

Nationalism is the last refuge of a coward, and thats all i have to say. So, after all, the ‘Communism’ of the English intellectual is something explicable enough. It is the patriotism of the deracinated George Orwell - The point i was making, is that if the british military is used to fight imperi...

I don't think any British people, soldiers or civilians, should be under foreign control without a very important reason for it. So no, i don't think putting British troops under the command of a commitee of German and French generals would be a good idea.

Considering this country is partly responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths since 9/11 (plus the hundreds of thousands of deaths each year as a result of unfair trade, environment and foreign policies), 7/7 is merely a small price to pay for the ignorance and apathy that some people have the...
