Just how many rounds must he have turned up with for goodness sake? Calmly catching the ferry over to the island ready to cause mayhem. But with 85 shot dead (at least 5 more yet to be accounted for - possibly drowned as they tried to escape) and a fair number wounded, he must have been loaded down ...

Re: Public Sector Pensions.

So let us say that someone in the army plans to retire as a WO1/Major (delete as appropriate) when they've done their 22 years. After doing 18 years, HMG change their pension rules; instead of the pension being based on a WO1/Major's (delete as appropriate) salary, it is now going to be based on an ...

Re: hi everyone

They'll have listed all the trades that your BARB score would allow you to apply for. Anything on that list is potentially yours if you pass the further aptitude tests.... Remember, You join up - then the army trains you..... You've probably got some infantry related 'jobs' listed on your print out ...

Some argue that it's all part of the way language constantly evolves... Others argue that we're just pandering to the slack-jawed yoofs wot are so idle they can't even be bovered to move their lips around and form intelligible words. No wonder so many foreign visitors to this country speak better En...

Good call Sisyphus... The S Type engagement might allow Ian to get a few extra year's service under his belt.

Sorry for any bum info. It's always best to ask the experts at the end of the day.

Re: Whats the chance of getting back in?

I'd struggle to get 8.33 on a bike these days (but even when I was in I was no racing snake), so there's no doubt you're fast enough. But the real test that you'll fall foul of is the age test. No getting away from that one. Upper limit is I believe 32 years 11 months (it changed from 26 in 2007). P...

Re: Army etiquette at Weddings and Funerals

Uniform definitely. But combats to a funeral? Really? How much more effort is required just to stick on his No2 uniform? It's a lot smarter than some raggy combats, unless he's trying to blend into the background and sneak away once the ceremony is over.... Or is he just fitting the funeral in betwe...
