Ive got that £14.99 one and works just fine plus if it brakes can just buy another one. only thing is its not water tight but the straps ok on it and easy one button so can't go wrong lol

It should help a great deal 70/80% is the range needed to build on your fitness cardo wise. When it comes to your 1.5 miler that will be a walk in the park but like most things it takes time don't worrie to much about times or distance just worrie about the lenght of the exercise and the quality. Try getting a heart monitor/watch go out running 3/4 times a week for 40mins or so keeping your heart at 70% / 80% its max BPM.

Had my ECG done few days ago so will fone up monday and see
They did say at the AFCO once Ive got the all clear I can just have another medcial.

Sorry to hear about that, is there nothing else you could apply for that interests you? Do you mind me asking why you failed it? I failed because of a heart murmur that I didnt know I had but I will have to get it checked out and all that witch will take months so may not be the end but most likley...

I quit about 4 months ago very easy to quit if its something you really want as I did.
I would say quit will help your fitness efforts no end and save you a pile of money you can spend on booze.

Ok so the interview went well and now I am booked in for the health assessment.
Will I have to do the pis* test there and then?
If so might be worth drinking lots of water before hand.
