Re: Standard of Fitness/ 1.5 Miler advice

Totally agree with the above poster - it's worth the wait, and patience is a virtue. I understand how this applicant feels, and empathise with him - by the time I get to depot it will have been just short of 15 months since submitting my application, but I am only 5 weeks short of that now (22nd Jun...

Re: Para training and getting ready

Cheers, mate. Passed PRAC last week (11th-13th March) so am almost ready to go now. Provisional job offer accepted and have been loaded on to the 22nd June intake. Just a few little hurdles to jump before the job offer is concrete and I can then hand my notice in at my current employer (GP records, ...

Re: Para training and getting ready

Completed my selection at ADSC Pirbright last week. Passed with an 'A' grade and a job offer for the Paras, so well chuffed. Got a BARB score of 66 and a 1.5 mile run time of 8mins 27secs, so very happy with that. Was told I could be loaded on to a PRAC for the 1th March but still not heard back fro...

Cheers, Tab.

I realise it may not be the easiest thing to define, but what sort of things would be done on a 'standard day'?

The Infantryman's Working Life.

Good afternoon all. My application to join the army has finally gained (a little) momentum (the Capita run NRC seems to be the common theme in the delay of potential recruits' applications). What I want is to gain a little more insight in to the day-to-day life of the infantryman. What is the workin...

Re: Adsc concerns

Fitness sounds spot on there, though I suppose it should be for a triathlete. What exactly about the team tasks concerns you? I've done ADSC before (albeit at Pirbright instead), so can offer a little experience. A lot of people at ADSC try to stand out amongst the others. While this isn't too bad f...

Re: Personal fitness for ADSC & PRAC

Thanks for the advice, Ofens. I'd like to keep sharp on the 1.5 mile, but agree that maybe twice a week is more than i need to do. I think I'll drop it to once and start some circuit training as you've suggested. I've also started some basic weights as I am quite slight, so would like to build up so...

Re: Para training and getting ready

I personally wouldn't be a reserve - I want a full time career. Had another call since my last post confirming that the application had been passed to their Glasgow records centre. I was told they can't say how long it would take but expect 4-6 weeks, which expired Friday just gone (6th Dec), so I a...

Re: Para training and getting ready

Finally got some news today. Received a call from the NRC to say my application has at last been referred to Glasgow - (I'm a rejoiner & all rejoiners have their applications referred to the Glasgow office to past service evaluation). So now I have a 4-6 week wait for a yay or nay phone call. (A...

Re: Para training and getting ready

My application is taking a while too, mate! Applied back on the 5th of April and now it's 1st October! But then mine had some trouble mixing up with a previous application (I'm a re-joiner). It's finally on the move now though - currently waiting to hear back from the re-joiner team in Glasgow who c...

Re: Parachute training

I see, thanks, Tab.

So essentially Parachute jump training was cut down as aircraft availability and man power to train has been low during Operation Herrick, but as it all winds down we should see it increased again?

Surprised about the night jump being cut.

Parachute training

Going back to the first quarter of 2013 there was a lot of reports and articles, both online and in newspapers of the talk of greatly reducing the number of Paras that will be parachute trained. Many can be quoted as saying that the regiment will only maintain 'a company sized parachute trained forc...
