Doing PT at the local barracks with 7 Rifles now, on a tuesday. Also training for rugby and playing it soon too.
Plus i've been drafted into the barracks rugby team too.
Doubly got to pass selection now.

Re: Pioneer
As long as I don't have to fill out any forms, or read a risk assessment i'll be happy.
Can't wait to get on with this!

Re: Pioneer
Thanks Tab, i'll bear that in mind. I'll practice throwing rocks at things on the ground then.
As long as I don't have to feck with IED's up close, i'm happy.
As an assault pioneer, would I be more likely to be the vallon man?

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Should be ok on fitness. Got my 1.5 mile time down to 13:24.
Can do 50 press ups and 50 situps and 5 pullups. Run times are coming down steadily and i've got a while before ADSC.
Doing more tabata training and hoping to do a big tab soon as well.

Re: Pioneer
Sounds good then. Don't fancy arsing around with IED's to be honest, but everything else sounds good.
The wife won't be too happy about me going infantry, but I want that Rifles cap badge.

Re: Pioneer
I looked on the army rolefinder and it came up as infantry/RAC/RLC.
Would rather keep the Rifles cap badge though, especially as i'm trying to join 7th Rifles.
Plus I won't get called a remf then!

Currently going through the process of joining the TA at the moment. Looking to join 7 Rifles. I've been looking through the job options and really fancy assault engineer as a trade. The blend of loads of skills would be useful to me in civvie street and it would still give me plenty of challenges a...

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Cheers.
I've done my medical and eye tests and got to send them off tomorrow. Other than that i'm working my nuts off for getting fit.
Trying to think about a job in the army now. Tempted by assault engineer (pioneer).

Army Sports Teams
Hi all. Looking to join the TA soon, hopefully in REME. Going to speak to a local base tomorrow night about it. Its the 7th Rifles base, down near Abingdon. Do the TA have their own rugby teams? And do different regiments like REME have their own rugby teams? I play for my local team anyway and woul...

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Hopefully they will have a opportunity in that regiment. Just rang and told them that i'm going to go meet them tomorrow with the wife and have a chat.
Hoepfully it all goes well.
Time to go for a run later I think.

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Think i've basically got the go ahead from the wife. We are going to meet with 7th Rifles on tuesday night, so the wife can ask a load of questions.
Hoping to join the attached REME detachment. We shall see how it goes!

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Been on tour Da sherrif?
Thats pretty much what I thought would happen if I joined TA anyway.
Still waiting to talk to the wife. Been busy this weekend, going to the boxing with my family.

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Oh I agree. I'd want to do a tour!
The only thing that I worry about out there is the friggin heat. 48 degrees. Bugger that!
Will start to try and convince the wife over this weekend, then go to the ACIO when I can get the free time from work.

Re: Wife Trouble/Joining TA
Yeah I did think about that. And in some ways it would be true as well.
If you join the TA, are you oblidged to a tour of duty?
