Re: Please check my workout routine?
Marching with a bergen is fine, maybe once a week. Keep up the good work. Just remember that the longer you have to train the longer you also have to get injured before you even apply to the regiments. That's why I don't recommend pushing yourself too hard at your age. Just bare that in mind. There ...

Re: Please check my workout routine?
Lose the energy supplement. I know that they help but you don't get energy supplements in training so you might aswell get used to working hard without one. You also don't want to become reliant on them. And don't jog with a bergen on your back, you are asking to get injured, rather be safe. As Tab ...

Re: 30 miler vs 20 miler (P-Coy)
Just as an example, the top 20,000km road runners compete at approx 21.8kph and 30,0000km at 20.8kph. Meaning that a 20,000km runner could complete 30,000km 5 minutes quicker than the current world champion! I'm hoping that the above is a typo  I think you mean 20km at a pace of 21.8km/h and 3...

Re: New Medal For The Troops
I should have been more clear. I was referring to the looks of the medal - not what it is awarded for, sorry.

Re: SA80 Cleaning Tips ?
Dentist tool (the one they use to get the bits in between your teeth, long rod with a pointy/angled end), use it to clean the thin ring bit inside the breach, then stuff a few bits of bits of 45x45 in there and give it a scrub around. I second this. I would try and find one (they are really cheap, ...

Re: Don't fear the reaper
Do I fear death? Not particularly. I don't want to die but I know that at some stage I will. If I die while serving in the military then that is great, if I live, that is great but I want to know that I died honorably and having done what I wanted. Whether there is a heaven or not- others move on an...

Re: Can somebody look at my programme please?! ;D
When I did the P Course you had to be a trained soldier before you could apply I think this is the key factor. Those who were injury prone, who were hiding injuries or those who weren't physically or mentally strong enough wouldn't have been trained soldiers because during basic training their weak...

Re: Can somebody look at my programme please?! ;D
Its all double Dutch to me, some years ago you just turned up and did it, and you either passed or failed, training programmes had not yet been invented. These programs do seem to defeat a purpose, it should probably be the same as when you went through selection how you turned up and did it. We sh...

Re: Can somebody look at my programme please?! ;D
If that is the case then I defenately suggest cutting off time every time you do it, it will just let your body know that it is there to be pushed. At least once a week you must try and add in a long walk or run so that you can improve on it (by long i don't mean excessive so about 8miles). On a few...

Re: Can somebody look at my programme please?! ;D
Although I have not been through the selection I would just like to bring up a point. I would suggest that instead of using a distance for the power walks (2 miles in your case) I think using a time would be more beneficial e.g. 2 hours of walking, and then slowly increase the time as you feel neces...

Re: Joining from south africa
Hey Awsum4sum, Also from South Africa here. If you have a British Passport you can join, I went to a recruiting office last year while I was on holiday and that is what I was told. I wouldn't suggest joining as soon as you arrive in the UK, try training in their climate and altitude for about 6 mont...
