I'm not a pilot but I do spend a large part of my working day sitting two feet behind two of them, so may I clear up a couple of your misconceptions. There are no extra qualifications required for fast jet pilots and similarly the arm/leg measurement limits apply to all pilot applicants. All pilots ...

This accident appears to be the basis of one of those bizzare UFO conspiracy theories. Apparently the mountain was sealed off after the accident (unsurprisingly, as Harriers contain some very unhealthy carbon fibre substances) and the tinfoil hat wearers assumed that this was to conceal a crashed sp...

Danny, If it is just the rank thing that is concerning you then I don't think you have too much to worry about. Before the Air Force will give you that rank you will have been selected at OASC for the required qualities and trained at Cranwell as to what is expected of you. You will then spend at le...

I didn't post a reply to this initially because it is nearly ten years since I did NCAITC (or AAITC as it then was), and there used to be people on this site who have done it in the last year or so. I know that the course has changed a lot since I did it but as you havent got any useful replies exce...

Yes, you can wear glasses and be a WSOp provided that your unaided vision is not too bad (no worse than 6/24 I think) and that your glasses correct your vision to 6/6 (ie normal vision as stated above). The eyesight standards are there because you require that standard of vision to achieve the tasks...

Its not quite as simple as just getting your tax back. It will be a tax free payment of £2240 for a six month tour regardless of rank and therefore of how much tax you pay. If you earn less than about £22k this is a better deal than a simple refund of tax, if you earn more than that, it is not as go...
