I fully admit to be visiting from ARRSE but having come across this thread, I thought I would look through all antphilip's previous posts to see what all the fuss was about. Have I missed something? I can't see quite why everyone is getting so het up- if you don't agree with his point of view, just ...

The UGL is an excellent bit of kit although it does make your rifle a bit bulky if you're travelling in vehs alot.

Was a bit sceptical about its accuracy when I first saw the sight but managed to put two grenades straight on the spot at 180m so am fully convinced now!

I just completed a 1.5 Mile run to see if i can beat the times right now for light infantry. I got 1.5 miles in 8:45 , i am feeling great as it gives me more motivation to get even fitter. All i have to do now is check my press up times and sit-ups. :D :D :drinking: :D :D Our exchange of posts in a...

Cadence Sit-Up is the sit-up bleep test. These standards are for the initial RMT in Week One. The intermediate and final RMTs get harder but even the final RMT is only testing to the base level. You only do RMTs at Phase 1; after that it is the BPFA with mile and a half run, 2 mins of sit ups and 2 ...

You don't need any specific military knowledge, you just need the ability to learn. This comes from someone who was a 'military virgin' when I started and ended up coming fourth for the Queen's Medal.

Intakes start almost every week unless you're a woman...(!)

Two Batteries at Pirbright but you might end up in the REME company or one of the three RLC squadrons (still as a Gunner recruit).

Don't worry too much about BARB scores. If you just miss out by a couple of points, join the same regt/corps doing a different job and then transfer across to the trade you want once you are at Phase 1 Trg. Like a lot of things in the army, once you are in the system there is a lot more leeway and p...

See if you can get hold of the sit-up bleep test; I'm sure you should be able to download it somewhere on the net. Doing this test is the best way to prepare for it as it conditions your body.

Army Sixth Form College is called Welbeck (at least it was, I know they were moving but I don't know whether they closed down). There are also a couple of Military schools which may well extend into the sixth-form.
