Just think of it, your mates wil be stacking shelves for their cash and you will have free personal trainers, free shooting and free food. What more could you ask for. Doing the RMR works well for a lot of students as a way of earning money. You did need to have this the right way round though; you ...

Glasgow08, This is probably not what you want to hear but I am afraid there is no way you will be able to do it if you are working offshore. It is slightly ironic because if you had a green lid already then your way of life would fit quite well as once you are a trained rank there is flexibility. Wh...

First thing to point out is that the admin in the military for transferring docs and accessing personnel files does not always work as smoothly as it should. If you are already in the TA Unit by the time you apply then the RMR will write to that Unit and request your docs. They cannot take you on un...

Matt, I suspect that the medical weekend is for those that have not been able to get their medical done before hand therefore you will not need to attend but I suggest you double check with Mne Bolton at the RMR Induction cell (as per usual the best time is 1930-2130 on a Wed evening on 0207 237 433...

Matt, I guess it has changed since yr Sep briefing, the lates dates are: Medicals 22Feb -24 Feb PRMC 29 Feb - 02 Mar Induction 07 Mar - 09 Mar. I am right in this case, but as a general rule if what you get from this site conflicts with what you get told through the official channels then go with th...

Water weights 1 kg per liter so if you are border line you could ensure you neck a large bottle just before you go in.

Good luck,

...or being a beefer :-? I thought being in the Corps was about quiet and applied determination not flowery demonstrative failure - let the septics keep that one. Heyup Von, I can't speak with any authority on officer training, I've just come across various products of it but... a lot of the skills...

OiW The basis thread of officer training is that in addition to what you are seeing the rcts doing you will be being taught more about leadership, a lot of the skills to a higher standard (such as navigation cos if a young Mne on going to a Cdo unit can't navigate it does not matter too much cos he ...

Stinky, Tartan Terrier, Nice use of the dictionnary to support the argument but by that logic so are Al Quaeda and a myriad of others and I don't think you would grace them with the title of Commando. It is the accepted thinking in the British Forces that the title Commando is reserved for those for...

Scott, If you are only 20 mins from Liverpool Street by train then you can easily get into RMR London in Bermondsey on a regular basis. With regards to how much having a Green Beret helps your chances when you are looking for a commission thinking of it from the point of view of the officers doing t...

Scott, It takes a big man to admit you are wrong so well done. I agree that some of the responses you got were also a little inflamatory but as someone has said it is the mods who put the work in and as such it is their site so you need to hold back your tongue; one of the reasons they do it (at lea...

McGuire, Sorry to hear the bad news. If you absolutely want to serve with the Corps then there are a few options short of being a Marine: 1. Join the Royal Engineers and go for 59 Cdo who work as part of 3 Cdo Bde 2. Join the Royal Artillery and go for 29 Cdo (same logic) 3. Go SBS (Special Boat Ser...
