14 day wash kit

Gemma.. don't cut your hair.. much much easier to scrape it back when long and pretend that the grease after 2 weeks is a healthy shine! The only camp I have been on was in the TA and lasted 7 days.. washing 'pits and bits' but nothing that looked like a shower (or a bucket) for the whole 7 days. To...

H_N, Thanks. I suppose that having admitted up front to all the injuries I have sustained it hacks me off to have to play politics during IOT by not drawing attention to oneself or one's 'defects' (ankles that is before you all get completely the right.. I mean 'wrong' ideas!). I'll just have to pla...

Ho hum.. beginning to wish I had never asked!!! :P Will just have to resort to the good old zinc oxide tape to hold myself together. Absolutely no point in me getting orthotics fitted as I have already been seen by an orthopod and his sidekick podiatrist (not called Tonto) who have said orthotics wo...

pre iot fitness test

Hi, Welcome back from the land of the ex colonials :) My letter stated that there would be a 1 min max press ups, 1 min max sit ups and a re-do bleep test. No mention at all of the 1.5 mile run. I phoned OASC and spoke to one of the PTIs who said it was just a redo bleep test during the fam visit an...

Boots for IOT

Can anyone tell me if you are allowed to wear your own boots at IOT? I have a lovingly broken in pair of Magnums and a history of supination having fractured my ankles. The thought of breaking in another pair of boots in less than 3 weeks really does not appeal! :-?

IOT February

Anna,
The IOT in February starts on Monday 13th and the reporting date is Sunday 12th. The familiarisation visits are available for the following dates: 9-10 January, 11-12 January, 16-17 January or 18- 19 January 2006. As for any other dates, I am afraid I don't have any details for those.

Fitness

Just wanted to say thanks for so much information! I go to oasc this Sunday (25/09) and am a little nervous to say the least. Really good of you to take the time to go into so much detail. I had been told they were changing the fitness test to a pass/fail system rather than a graded one. ie they no...

ankle problem

I recently had an ankle injury and discovered I had fractured the ankle on both lateral and medial sides. I was eventually referred to a physio as part of my rehab. She gave me some simple exercises to do such as walking barefoot on your heels, using a wobble board, going up on tip toes on the edge ...

OAPs and the RAF

I don't know if it will be of any consolation to you but I was told by AFCO that I was far too old to apply to the RAF but having obtained a second opinion I am about to go to OASC at the ripe old age of 39 and 7/12. The age limit only seems to apply if there is a glut of people wanting to join a pa...

Hi rock. I've already been accepted for my branch as I'm a nurse. Mind you, the last time I attended OASC about 10 years ago they asked if I wanted to be air traffic or fighter controller... guess they were hard up for those branches at the time! Nurse doctors and those solicitor type peeps as well ...

CBR600

My last bike was a CBR600 and although I am much older than you and hence paid less insurance it cost me a fortune compared to my off roader. My CBR was nicked twice within 11 months and the terribly smug people at the insurance company had great pleasure in telling me it was "the most stolen m...

OASC 19th September 2005

Is anybody here due to attend OASC on 19th September? I was due to attend in August but after a sprained ankle which then turned out to be broken (and who says that only rocks are tough!?) I now have a place in September.Should be fun. :o
