Re: Consequences of drug use in the Army
You're allowed to think what you like, but it's completely banned in the military and unlikely to change any time soon. The Army might want snowflakes but they don't want stoners...

Re: Mental health
I imagine you could apply for a Civil Service job within the MoD, but you would not be accepted as a Serving member of the Military with your history I'm afraid. It's to protect you as much as anything else.

Re: Joining the RAF
Ok, first point from me - if you're interested in joining the military I wouldn't be using your real name as a username online. Have a look at the online security guidance at getsafeonline.org for some good tips. If you want to join the RAF without A levels, chances are you're going to have to start...

Re: RAF relationship
Yeah, if there's wifi in the accommodation he can probably pick it up just outside as well, as long as he's still in range of the router. I'm sorry you're finding it hard, it's definitely not easy dealing with a relationship with a military bloke on deployment, even when you're serving as well! I do...

Re: RAF relationship
I've never been anywhere where there was wifi around the base, it's usually restricted to a welfare cabin, and if you're lucky you can access it in your accommodation. Without knowing where he is (and please don't put that anywhere on line, or any of his tour dates or personal details) I can't tell ...

Re: Dental Hygiene
From what you've described I'd be surprised if you weren't told to get the problems fixed before you'd be considered.
Although you'll get free dental care when you're in, the military doesn't like to let people in with existing problems which they're going to have to pay to fix

Congratulations to him.
I'm confused as to why you need to order any kit though, he's been issued everything he's expected to have.

If you don't have the self-discipline to get yourself to school every day are you sure you're going to be able to hack it in the military?

Re: Joining up
Have you looked at the RAF Police as well? I'm the first in my family to go RAF instead of Navy or Marines, culturally the two seem fairly similar. It's worth thinking about if you enjoy being in the Navy in general but don't like the specific job you're doing. My ex was RMP, the only positive respo...

Re: Tattoos
The Army relaxed its rules on tattoos in 2014, so hand and neck tattoos are now allowed as long as they couldn't be considered offensive.

Re: Joining up
No experience of a Navy to Army transfer, but I know people who transferred from both the Army and the Navy to the RAF. You're definitely better trying to do it without a break in service if you can. Any particular reason why the Army? As I understand it you can't guarantee getting to end up where y...

Re: Can A Relationship Work And Be Healthy In The Military?
My ex was based in Germany while I was in London - we could see each other every weekend for 5 weeks, or not at all for 6 depending on our schedules, but we spoke or texted every day we were together until he got deployed, and then we were obviously restricted to one phone call a week and emails whe...

Re: Transferring from the RAF
One of my RAF mates has an Army husband. They are currently able to live together, but they're both in the only jobs where they can be co-located, so as soon as their current tours are up they'd be posted apart. She's going to leave at that point. It does depend what trade you're in of course, some ...
