Right, look in for the gen. The course is going up to 32 weeks, the reason being, that the way it has been working for some time now is; you would do training, pass out, then have 2 weeks getting your NVQ, and then go onto a field gunners course, which teaches advanced tactics, the rest of the suite...

You will be told all the way through training 'you will be on op's within 12 months lads, and true to the word, I went to afghan 6 months after passing out. Like everything military, there were periods of intense activity and excitement and also periods of intense boredom and frustration.

Don't believe everything you hear about the RAF Regiment, most of it comes from people who have never worked with the corps or are just passing on what other people with no experience of us have told them. HH stop it now please mate, you're bringing back the painful memories of rejection from when I was laughed out of Her Majesties Royal Stacking School, I just couldn't make the grade in phase 1 pie eating which you needed to progress to advanced cream cake eating and pastries other than savoury phase...

Alright this is bone but I want to know the actual test on pre para and as much gen for them as possible, I am in and on R &R from ghanners at the minute, if I don't find out I'll ask someone winged up when I get back, I'd just like a written reference to refer to for training.

Nope, you only run a 3 miler again once and that's best effort to determine which running stream you're in. Then you increase distance and pace on the running side of things up to about 9 or 10 miles tops. You will also do a hill sprints session, which considering how flat the area around depot is, ...

ROFA is not particularly dificult mate, you shouldn't have real dramas on it. You will do much more physically demanding stuff in phys during training as norm.
