Chris As a member of the AAC Cadre you will not be allowed to wear a Green Beret! They wear powder blue berets, and it's only attached ranks who wear their own parent regiment uniform and headgear. (Unless it's all changed!) With the AAC you would only need to complete the flying course if you were ...

druadan (Chris) Thanks for the pm. I'll answer you here. I was a Bootneck pilot who became an RAF pilot, having taught pongo pilots how to fly, but I did a spell in Oman as a Contract Pilot with SOAF inbetween. :o The transfer to the Army or the RAF isn't a problem as long as you have what they want...

The Royal Navy took over the Royal Marines Air Squadron, and renamed it 847 Sqn, with a new crest that depicts nothing to do with the Corps. They then got rid of the 8 Gazelle Helicopters, and the RM SNCO pilots. Now they're flogging our Corps Crest and badges! Anyone see some sort of conspiracy her...

Update on the lad with the turban. I attended a King's Squad (907 Troop) pass out on the 8th June 2006 which was exactly the 50th Anniversary of my Squads (645 Squad) pass out. While speaking to the RSM after the parade he informed us that the nod with the turban didn't complete training. Moreover, ...

It was a Bootneck Lynx. :( 847 NAS is what used to be called 3 Commando Brigade Air Squadron Royal Marines which is why there was a Royal Marines Door Gunner on board. Lt Cdr Chapman was the OC, and had taken over from a Major RM as the Navy and Corps take it in turns to command the Air Sqn. RIP guy...

Archiemac I can confirm what TJD has said as I joined the RAF in 1980 having served my 22 years in the Corps. I had an ex-Para on the same initial course at RAFC Cranwell, and we wound up the RAF guys by telling them we could wear our Green/Red berets with the RAF badge. At that time they wouldn't/c...
