Olá people. With my second interview coming up in around 3 weeks, I am determined to pass. The reason I failed the first time, was as I have previously stated, one of 3 reasons.
1) The AFCO was concerned with my lack of understanding regarding the Royal Navy Contract
2) The AFCO was concerned with my lack of obvious enthusiasm for joining the Royal Marines (I am enthusiastic, dont bite, I bite back)
3) AFCO was concerned at my apparent lack of fitness, which to to honest, I could understand.
Today, I am going to help out others, by offering up the contract in simple to understand terms, as I wouldn't want anyone to go into the interview as unprepared as I was the first time.
In essense, the main points of the contract in a no bullsh*t brief explanation is as followed.
The Royal Navy Contract is signed on day one of your career in the Navy or Marines.
The engagement is until you are 40 years old or for 18 years, which ever is later.
There is an opportunity to submit two weeks notice between four weeks and six months after entering the service. This is called Premature Voluntary Release.
After the six month period, you will be required to serve for a period of two and a half years, after you have completed training.
Once your Return Of Service is complete, you can submit twelve months notice at any point.
